The online scientific conference entitled: was held with great success on Tuesday, April 28, 2026.
"Modern approaches to teaching Economics: University - School in dialogue",
which was co-organized by the Department of Economics of the National University of Athens and the Central Council of the Union of Economists and Secondary Education Teachers (E.O.E.D.E.).
The response from the educational community was extremely high, as the conference was attended by approximately 400 Secondary Education teachers.
The event was opened by the President of the Department, Professor G. Dotsis, who presented the curriculum, the advantages of studying, the professional rights and the professional prospects of the Department of Economics of the National University of Athens, emphasizing the interdisciplinarity and pluralism that characterize the Department.
During the event, the following were also presented:
-The Panhellenic Student Economics Competition, F. Kouranti, Associate Professor, Department of Economics, NKUA, with a brief intervention by M. Zoumboulakis, President of the Department of Economics, University of Thessaly, in the context of the cooperation between the two Departments for the organization of the Competition.
-The role of theory in the teaching of Economics, A.M. Kanzola, PhD Candidate
-The transition from school finances to sustainable accounting, D. Balios, Professor, Department of Economics, NKUA
-Modern teaching approaches, Th. Magoula, Lecturer, Department of Economics, National University of Athens, Advisor to the Ministry of National Defense
-Applied lesson plans, I. Tsantilis, Secondary Education Professor PE80
-The use of ICT and Artificial Intelligence in teaching, E. Petraki, Laboratory Teaching Staff, Department of Economics, NKUA
The conference concluded with a discussion and conclusions, with the participation of the President of the Department of Economics of the National University of Athens, Professor G. Dotsis, and the President of the Greek National Federation of Teachers, Ms. S. Takaoglou, during which questions were raised and a dialogue developed with the participating teachers.
We thank all the speakers and especially the teachers for their active participation, contributing to a meaningful dialogue between the University and the school.
