Important Announcement for Students with Disabilities and Special Educational Needs

Accessibility Unit for Students with Disabilities

The Accessibility Unit for Students with Disabilities (MoProFmeA) of the University of Athens aims to provide equal access to academic studies for students with different abilities and requirements, through the provision of adaptations to the environment, Assistive Information Technology and Access Services.

The Accessibility Unit offers:

  • Service to record the specific needs of each FEMA.
  • Department of Accessibility in the Built Environment of the University.
  • Transfer service of the students from their residence to the schools and vice versa
  • Assistive Information Technologies.
  • Free Software for PhmeA.
  • Accessible Literature.
  • Accessible Work Stations in Libraries.
  • Intermediation service for the direct live telecommunication of FMEs, through interpretation in Greek Sign Language, with fellow students, professors and employees of the University.
  • Student volunteer service to support FEMA.
  • Guidance on the appropriate ways of examining FMEs.
  • Psychological Counselling Service for People with Disabilities.

In order to better serve the FMEs in each Department/School of the University of Athens, the following have been appointed:

α) Advisor Professor FmeA and his/her deputy and

b) The official of the Secretariat and his/her deputy responsible for the service of the FMA

who may also be contacted by telephone, e-mail or through the Transit Service. The contact details of the person in charge of each Department/Faculty can be found on the MOProFmeA website.
