On Tuesday, July 29, 2025, the 8th International Economics Olympiad (IEO) concluded with great success, with Azerbaijan as the host country and participation from 50 countries. The 5 students who represented our country qualified for the 6th Panhellenic Student Economics Competition 2025. Greece, in its 7th consecutive participation, achieved excellent results.
Three of the five students on the mission won bronze medals in the individual events:
- Michael Tsoukis (Pancretan School)
- Athanasios Karageorgos (8th High School of Trikala)
- Dimitris Georgoulas (1st High School of Evosmos)
and our team ranked 12th in the Business Case team round.
As the Department of Economics of the University of Athens, we are particularly proud to have supported this effort through our collaboration with the corresponding Department of the University of Thessaly for the organization of the 6th Panhellenic Student Economics Competition.
We warmly thank our professors Mr. Stelios Kotsios, President of our Department, Ms. Frango Kouranti and Mr. Pantelis Kostis for their valuable contribution to the preparation of the students.
