Short biography Ioannis Basiakos is Professor Emeritus of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), Department of Economics. He studied Mathematics at the University of Athens and Statistics at Northeastern University in Boston (USA), where he completed his PhD studies.
His scientific research focuses on Applied Statistics, Biostatistics, Sampling Theory and the Design and Analysis of Sampling Surveys, as well as Innovation and Research and Development Evaluation.
He has professional experience in consultancy services for the European Commission (the projects “MEASURING WHAT MEASURES FOR EU CITIZENS: SOCIAL PROGRESS IN EUROPEAN REGIONS”, EUROMED, MORE I, and ERAWATCH and the CISIII in Greece), designing and analyzing sample surveys.
He has been teaching Statistics and Research Design and Analysis courses for over twenty years at the University of Athens, both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
He has published over forty-five articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals and conference proceedings.
