Short biography Vasilios N. Katsikis is Professor of Mathematics and Informatics in the Department of Economics of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA). He received his B.A. in Mathematics from NKUA, his M.A. in Applied Mathematics and his Ph.D. in Mathematical Analysis from the National Technical University of Athens with funding from the “Papakyriakopoulos” scholarship. He has also worked as a postdoctoral researcher in Applied and Computational Mathematics with financial support from the State Scholarships Foundation (IKY) and as a principal investigator or member of the research team in various international research programs.

His research interests include, among others: Artificial Intelligence and applications in Portfolio Analysis, Intelligent Algorithms in Finance, Computational Mathematics, Computational Methods in Economics, Matrix Analysis and Applied Linear Algebra. Neural Networks, Intelligent Optimization, Numerical Linear Algebra, Linear and Multilinear Algebra, Mathematical Finance, etc. . He has more than 170 publications in high-profile journals, several books and book chapters in the aforementioned fields. He is a member of the scientific committee and a reviewer in various scientific journals, a member of the organizing committee of conferences and an invited editor in many special issues in various scientific journals. In 2023 and 2024, he was included in the annual global academic performance evaluation ranking "World's Top 2% Scientists List" published every year by researchers at Stanford University (USA). Finally, he is Director of the "Quantitative Investment" postgraduate program, Director of the "Mathematics-Informatics & Statistics-Econometrics" Department and member of the coordinating committee of the "UOA MBA", of the Department of Economics of the National University of Athens.
