Looking for levers of economic growth: a discussion with the chief economists of the Greek systemic banks
LSE online event on Tuesday 29 April 2025: 14.30pm to 16.00pm (EET)
As normality returns, it is a good time to assess the situation and prospects of the Greek economy. There are divergent views on the way forward, with policy proposals either emphasising continued reforms to improve efficiency or advocating extensive sectoral reallocation to balance growth. However, the informed informed views of market participants are less evident in the public debate. Given the need to deepen the public debate, this event will bring together chief economists from the four systemic banks to discuss growth options for the Greek economy, drawing on their valuable insights into the macroeconomic environment and real-time market dynamics.
Speakers:
Dr Tasos C. Anastasatos, Chief Economist of Eurobank and Chairman of the Economic Analysis Coordination Committee of the Hellenic Banking Association
Dr Panagiotis Kapopoulos, Chief Economist and Head of Economic Research and Analysis at Alpha Bank
Elias Lekkos, Chief Economist and Head of Investment Strategy at Piraeus Bank
Dr Nikolaos S. Manginas, Chief Economist and Director of the Economic Analysis and Research Department of the National Bank of Greece
Chairman: Professor Vassilis Monastiriotis, LSE
Coordinator: Professor Antonis Bartzokas. Anton Anton Anton Antonis Dzogkas, Professor Anton Anton Antonis Dzogkas of the University of Athens and LSE.
