Short biography Spyridon D. Mourtas is a Visiting Professor and lecturer at the Department of Economics of the National University of Athens, as well as Scientific Director of a research project of the Hellenic Research Institute (2025–2027). He holds a degree in Mathematics from the University of Patras, a master's degree in Mathematical Finance and a PhD with specialization in Applied Mathematics from the National University of Athens. During his doctoral studies, he received the "Stavros Tsakyrakis" scholarship and participated in the Erasmus+ program at the University of Nis (Serbia). He also served as a researcher at the Siberian Federal University (2022–2024).
His extensive writings include over 60 articles in international scientific journals and book chapters, with an emphasis on operations research, statistics, neural networks and financial engineering. In addition, he has extensive teaching experience at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and serves as an Editor in international scientific journals (MDPI).
