Short biography	Professor Emeritus, Department of Economics, University of Athens. He is a graduate of the Department of Mathematics, School of Physics and Mathematics, University of Athens and a graduate of the School of Civil Engineering, National Technical University of Athens. He received a Master's degree from the Department of Statistics, Concordia University, a PhD in Economics and a postdoctoral position in Econometrics from the School of Law, Economics and Political Sciences, University of Athens. He was a researcher at McGill University and Ottawa University as well as a Research Fellow at the Center for Econometric Research and a visiting Professor at Concordia University. He worked as a Civil Engineer in Technical Design Offices. He was Director of the National School of Public Administration and the Institute for Continuing Education of the National Center for Public Administration. He has served as President and Vice President of Economics Departments of Greek Universities and as a member of the Senate and Governing Board of Universities as well as of the Boards of Directors of public organizations, scientific institutes and postgraduate study programs. He also served twice as Dean of the School of Law, Economics and Political Sciences of the University of Athens. He taught in Undergraduate and Postgraduate Study Programs: Statistics, Econometrics, Operations Research and Mathematics. He has published a large number of articles in various authoritative international scientific journals and collective volumes, is the author of university books and research monographs and has presented his work as an invited speaker at many international academic conferences and universities. He provides his services as a member of scientific committees in Greece and abroad, with the purpose of studying various topics, evaluating University Departments and research papers for publication in international scientific journals, as well as supervising the preparation of doctoral theses. He participates in scientific and professional associations and has received honorary distinctions from Universities, scientific and cultural societies and from other bodies.
