Short biography	Emeritus Professor of Economics at the University of Athens (2011). He studied Law and Economics-Political Sciences at the same University (1962-1969). He received a PhD in Economics from the Free University of Berlin (1974). Professor at the University of Athens since 1984. He served as Minister of Labor and Social Affairs (2000-2001, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Foreign Affairs (2001-2004) and Minister of the Interior (2011-2012). Chairman of the Board of Directors of HELPE S.A. (2009-2011) and of Lamda Development S.A. (2015-2023). He has published many books and articles on economic and social issues. Most recent works: “Greece 1953-2024. Time and Political Economy” (2025 Patakis ed.), “'Ellada stin krisís” (2013), “Inequalities, poverty, economic upheavals in times of crisis” (2016, with St. Zografakis), “Crisis management in Greece: the shaping of new economic and social balances” (with St. Zografakis, 2018), “Insurance, development, macroeconomics: the connections” (2020), “The State and Economic Development (1955-2018)” (Oxford University Press, 2020), “Industrial Policy in Times of Crisis: The Case of Greece” (with I.
