ECPA - INFORMATION MEETING ON PEDAGOGICAL & TEACHING COMPETENCE
Special informative meeting for Pedagogical & Teaching Competence was organized by invitation of the Rectorial Authorities on Wednesday, 14/9, where due to the large participation (more than 200 people) it was held in the Great Hall, and there was also remote participation.
The meeting started with the introductory statement of the Rector of the University of Athens, Professor Thanos Dimopoulos. This was followed by the presentation of the new institutional framework by the Vice Rector, Professor Dimitris Karadimas (Article 99 of the Law of the University of Cyprus. 4957/2022 "Certificate of Pedagogical and Teaching Competence" and Article 456 - Transitional provisions of Chapter I') and a presentation on the basic steps and actions for the implementation of the regulations by the Dean of the Faculty of Education Thomas Babalis. Subsequently, there were statements and discussion from Deans, Department Chairs, Faculty Members, Faculty Members, Lecturers, HODs, etc.
During the meeting, the specificities of the different departments were presented and questions and suggestions were recorded. The unanimous decision of the Senate of the University of Athens that this issue is a top priority for the Institution was confirmed. Every effort will be made in order to minimize problems during the implementation of the new Law and to achieve a smooth coupling of the Pedagogical and Teaching Competence programme with the existing curricula and the specificities of the affected Departments. The position of the Management and the Senate of the UoA was confirmed that the Certificate of Pedagogical and Teaching Competence should be made available to all UoA students who wish to obtain it and should be provided free of charge.
