With great pleasure, the reception event for the first-year students of the Department of Economics of the School of Economics of the University of Athens was held in the packed "Angelopoulou" hall.
The students were welcomed by the President of the Department, Professor George Dotsis, and the Vice President, Professor Ioannis Leventidis, in the presence of the Secretary of the Department, Mrs. In their speeches they referred to the important advantages of studying at the Department, the modern Curriculum, the infrastructure and facilities of the University of Athens, as well as the career prospects for graduates.
Then, faculty members and lecturers of the Department - Konstantinos Repapis, Christos Pierros, Frago Kuranti, Dimitra Kyriakopoulou, Pantelis Kostis, George Rigopoulos, Evangelia Siachou and Evangelia Petraki - extended warm wishes to the students, stressing the importance of participation, progress and academic consistency from the very first steps of their studies. The students were also introduced to the Erasmus programme, the CIVIS programme, the internship opportunities, as well as the postgraduate programmes offered by the Department of Economics.
A special moment of the event was the speech of graduate Manolis Skotori, who shared his personal experience from his studies at the Department. With sincerity and enthusiasm, he inspired the new students to dare, seek opportunities and make the most of their student journey.
For practical issues and information about the Secretariat of the Department, Ms. Mary Papapetrou informed in detail, giving useful instructions for the first steps of the students.
