The Department of Economics of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens announces with great pleasure the achievement of the third place from his team in the regional final CFA Institute Research Challenge 2026, held in Cairo, with the participation of university teams from nine countries.
Having won first place in the Greek competition, the team represented Greece and the National University of Athens in the international competition. The winning team consists of the following students:
- Aesop's Kingdom (MSc Applied Economics & Finance)
- Ioannis Koutsourelis (MSc Applied Economics & Finance)
- Thanos Mayonno (MSc Internal Audit, Risk Management and Compliance – IARC)
- Olga Zavanti (MSc Internal Audit, Risk Management and Compliance – IARC)
During the final, the students presented and defended their analysis and valuation model before a panel of experienced investment professionals. The distinction is the culmination of their systematic preparation, analytical training and effective collaboration, highlighting their ability to apply academic knowledge to demanding financial analysis issues.
The group was accompanied to Cairo by Professor George Dotsis, providing support throughout her participation. The contribution of Professor was also important Dimitrios Kainourgiou and Assistant Professor Ioannis Katsaboxakis, who provided continuous scientific guidance and technical advice during the team's preparation.
The Department thanks the CFA Society Greece and its President, George Panagopoulos, CFA, to support Greek participation, as well as the CFA Society Egypt for the organization and hospitality. He also congratulates the Cypriot team for winning second place.
