Tasoulas<\/b><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The ceremony was also attended by, among others, the former Prime Minister and Professor Emeritus of the University of Athens, Mr.\u00a0<strong>Luke Papademos<\/strong>, the former Prime Minister and Honorary Doctor of the University of Athens Mr.\u00a0<strong>Panayiotis Picrammenos<\/strong>, the Vice President of the Government and graduate of the University of Athens, Mr.\u00a0<strong>Kostis Hatzidakis<\/strong>, the Minister of National Economy and Finance, Mr.\u00a0<strong>Kyriakos Pierrakakis<\/strong>, the Minister of Health and graduate of the University of Athens, Mr.\u00a0<strong>Adonis Georgiades<\/strong>, the Minister of Environment and Energy, and graduate of the University of Athens, Mr.\u00a0<strong>Stavros Papastavrou<\/strong>, the Minister of Development and graduate of the University of Athens, Mr.\u00a0<strong>Takis Theodorikakos<\/strong>, the Minister of Labour and Social Security, Ms.\u00a0<strong>Niki Kerameos<\/strong>, the Minister of Justice, Mr.\u00a0<strong>George Florides<\/strong>, Deputy Ministers and Secretaries General of the Government, the Vice President of the Hellenic Parliament, Members of Parliament, the former Vice President of the Government, Professor\u00a0<strong>Evangelos Venizelos<\/strong>, the President of the Council of State, the President of the Court of Auditors, representatives of the Supreme Courts, representatives of the Armed Forces and the Security Forces, the Secretary General of the Presidency, Rectors and former Rectors of Universities, members of the Academy of Athens, Presidents, CEOs and members of the Banking Community, including the President of the National Bank of Greece Mr.\u00a0<strong>Gikas Hardouvelis<\/strong>, the President of Eurobank Mr.\u00a0<strong>George Zanias<\/strong>, the Board of Directors of Alpha Bank Mr.<strong>\u00a0Vassilis Psaltis<\/strong>, the Board of Directors of Piraeus Bank Mr.\u00a0<strong>Christos Megalou<\/strong>, the Board of Directors of Credia Bank Mr.\u00a0<strong>Eleni Vrettou<\/strong>, representatives of the Business and Maritime Sector - including Ms.\u00a0<strong>Marianna Latsis<\/strong>, Mr.\u00a0<strong>Yannis Vardi Vardinoyannis<\/strong>, Ms.\u00a0<strong>Maria Angelikousi<\/strong>, Mr.\u00a0<strong>Alexander Exarchou<\/strong>, the president of SEV Mr.\u00a0<strong>Spyros Theodoropoulos<\/strong>-, members of the Administrative Council, Vice Rectors, Members of the Senate, Deans and Presidents of the University of Athens, Professors Emeritus, representatives of political parties, and a representative of the Archbishop of Athens.<\/p>\n<p>The Rector of the University of Athens, Professor\u00a0<strong><b>Gerasimos Siasos<\/b><\/strong>, gave a speech, followed by a greeting from the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Political Sciences, Prof.\u00a0<strong><b>Nikolaos Iriotis<\/b><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The former President of the Department, Professor\u00a0<strong><b>Stylianos Kotsios<\/b><\/strong>, referred to the contribution of the honoree to the Department of Economics, while Prof.\u00a0<strong><b>Evangelia Papapetrou<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0presented the scientific and wider work of Professor Stournaras. The Honorary Volume was presented by the President of the Department, Prof.\u00a0<strong><b>George Dotsis<\/b><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The honorary volume was presented by the Rector of the University of Athens, Professor\u00a0<strong><b>Gerasimos Siaso<\/b><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Mr.\u00a0<strong><b>Ioannis Stournaras<\/b><\/strong>, then gave a speech on \"<strong>The upheavals in the international economic balances, the eurozone and the Greek economy\".<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The ceremony, which was attended by members of the academic community, representatives of institutions and associates of the honoree, highlighted the University of Athens' firm commitment to the recognition of excellence and contribution to economic thinking and practice. Mr.\u00a0<strong>Ioannis Stournaras,<\/strong>\u00a0Professor Emeritus of the Department of Economics of the University of Athens, he has served, among others, as Governor of the Bank of Greece and member of the Board of Directors of the European Central Bank.
