With a doctoral degree from the University of Portsmouth, he contributed substantially to both teaching and research, with publications in prestigious international scientific journals and conferences.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The seriousness, hard work and calmness of his character left their mark on students and colleagues, while his exemplary presence was a point of reference for the School and its subject.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>His loss is personal but also collective: it leaves a void in the academic life of the department, but also in the broader academic field that he served with dignity and humanity.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The funeral service will be held on Monday, August 11, at 5:30 p.m. at the Agios Nikolaos cemetery in Chalkida.<\/em><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Assembly of the Department of Economics of the National University of Athens expresses its deep sorrow for the untimely passing of Assistant Professor, George Makrygiannakis.
