Simos Meidanis was a professor of Statistics in our Department. He was distinguished by his dedication to science (he has more than 150 publications in peer-reviewed international journals). He also had more than 20 research collaborations and invitations to universities all over the world (France, Italy, China, Australia, USA, Russia, South Africa, South Korea, Brazil, South Africa and others). His contribution to the Department has also been significant. He collaborated with and assisted junior faculty members in their advancement. He was forthcoming, humble and cooperative. In his courses he provided superior knowledge of statistical methods for economists.
