The 15th National Conference of the Greek Economic and Financial Association, which took place on December 18 and 19, 2025 at the Department of Economics of the National University of Athens, was completed with great success.<\/p>\n

The event was accompanied by 65 high-level parallel scientific papers, with the participation of specialized researchers from Greece and abroad, covering topics such as: banking and financial issues, financial technology, regulatory frameworks, sustainable development, energy markets, mergers and acquisitions, as well as contemporary issues.<\/p>\n

During the Conference, important personalities from the finance and banking sector were honored.
\nOn December 18, Dr. Georgios Tavlas was awarded for his outstanding and multidimensional contribution to the field and presented his speech on the topic
\n\u00ab<\/span>Monetary Policy, <\/span>Credibility, <\/span>and Central Bank Independence\u00bb, coordinated by Professor & President of the Department of Economics Mr. Georgios Dotsis
\nand the award was presented by Professor of the University of Crete, Mr. Chrysovalantis Gaganis.<\/p>\n

On the same day, Round Table I was held on the topic of "Banking Transformation", coordinated by the Vice-Rector for Finance & Development, Professor Aristides Samitas.
\nThe speakers at the table included Mr. Georgios Adrachtas, <\/span>Chief Risk Control Officer of the Bank <\/span>Alpha, Mr. Elias Lekkos, <\/span>Chief Economist of Piraeus Bank
\nand Mr. Alexandros Kaliontzoglou, Head of the Digital Financial Services Supervision Department of the Bank of Greece.<\/p>\n

On December 19, Round Table II was held on the topic of \u201cProspects of the Greek Economy\u201d, coordinated by Professor Dimitrios Kainourgios, Member of the Board of Directors of the Athens University of Economics and Business. The round table was attended by speakers including Ms Anastasia Miaouli, Professor Emeritus of the Athens University of Economics and Business and President of the Hellenic Fiscal Council, Mr Panagiotis Petrakis, Professor Emeritus of the Athens University of Economics and Business and President of the Hellenic Fiscal Council, as well as Mr Georgios Chondrogiannis, Professor of the University of Harakopi and Director of Economic Analysis and Studies of the Bank of Greece.
\nOn the same day, Professor Emeritus Mr. Panagiotis Alexakis was honored, in recognition of his long-standing, substantial and decisive contribution to the academic, educational and scientific development of the Department of Economics and the Department of Business and Organizational Administration of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.<\/p>\n

These events served as reference points for the conference, enhancing the dialogue between academics and professionals and highlighting excellence in the field of financial science in Greece.<\/p>\n
