Linear Programming is the most well-known branch of Mathematical Programming, with applications to various problems, such as product mix, resource allocation, mixing, portfolio selection, financial decisions, product production planning, diet, human resource planning, transportation, etc. Linear Programming deals with the optimization of a linear function under certain constraints. Emphasis in this course is given to the formulation and application of linear programming problems, as well as to the understanding of the methods used to solve them. The course concludes with the application of the model to special cases of linear programming problems. Appropriate computer programs will be used to apply the techniques and solve the problems.

Content:

Linear Programming Model: Conditions for applying linear programming, problem presentation, solution of the model using the graphical method and the Simplex method, analysis of the solution.

Dual Theory: Formation and solution of the dual model, economic interpretation.

Sensitivity analysis of the solution of a linear model.

Special cases of GI problems: Transfer model (Formulation, solution, dual model), integer programming, etc.

Case studies

Goal programming

Introduction to nonlinear programming.

Βιβλιογραφία:

Greek:

Κ. Δρακάτος, Γ.Δονάτος, Β.Χομπάς. Μέθοδοι και Προβλήματα Προγραμματισμού, Εκδόσεις Παπαζήση, 1981, Αθήνα.

G.
