In particular, emphasis is given to the presentation of basic institutions and modern structures of civil law with continuous analysis and interactive discussion on practical examples (casestudies) according to the traditions. The above continuous reference and discussion on practical examples aims at a better understanding by students of the institutions of civil law and at the same time provides students with the opportunity to connect the course material with their daily lives, on the one hand as individuals and on the other hand in the future as economists and business executives since, as is known, participation in negotiations and the process of making good decisions is better served and promoted by the knowledge and weighing of basic legal risks (legalrisks). Finally, the possibility of writing a short essay in Greek or English is provided with continuous supervision by the instructor in order to achieve the best possible result. It is noted that the successful completion of the essay increases the final grade (bonus).

COURSE CONTENT

The course content includes:

Introductory elements to law in general and civil law in particular (concept of law, rule of law, application of rule of law, civil law distinctions).

General principles of civil law (legal capacity-minors, acquisition and loss of rights, conclusion of a contract, defects of will-declaration, representation, conditions-deadlines, etc.).

General law of obligations, which examines the fundamental concept of guilt for modern transactional life and the related issues (creation of guilt, transfer of guilt, amortization of guilt), as well as the concept of tort and unjust enrichment.

Basic forms of contracts included in the special law of obligations with an emphasis on practical examples of everyday transactional life (contract of sale, lease, loan, project, work, deposit, guarantee, etc.)

Basic elements of property law with emphasis on real collateral (mortgage, pledge with delivery, pledge without delivery, floating collateral) institutions, as is known, of great importance in modern banking transactions

Basic elements of family and inheritance law (e.g. divorce, will)

Brief reference to new forms of contracts and institutions of the modern economy that constitute an evolution of "traditional" civil law in order to meet the needs of modern transactional life (e.g. e-commerce and electronic contracts (via the internet), consumer contracts, marketing law, e.g. unfair advertising, etc.).

Αντ. Ν. Σάκκουλα, 2004

Michael Stathopoulos, Contract Law in Greece, 2009, Ant.
