It is essentially an introduction to international macroeconomics, linked to the functioning of micromarkets such as<br \/>\ninternational financial securities market. The syllabus covers a number of selected topics, such as balance of payments analysis, exchange rates and their relation to money, capital and price markets, the effects of economic policy, the concept of competitiveness at the country level. The content of the course is an example of theory formation through the interaction of<br \/>\naccumulated knowledge and historical developments in the global economy. This course is a continuation of the course \"International Economics\", the subject matter of which is primarily concerned with international trade in goods and services. It is addressed to students who are in their 3rd or 4th year of studies. For comfortable attendance and consolidation of the material, a basic background in microeconomics and a good level of macroeconomic theory are required.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Content:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Macroeconomic accounting and the balance of payments.<\/li>\n<li>Foreign exchange markets and exchange rates.<\/li>\n<li>Determination of exchange rates and interest rates.<\/li>\n<li>Exchange rates and prices.<\/li>\n<li>Macroeconomic policy and coordination in a floating regime<\/li>\n<li>exchange rates. Fixed exchange rates and economic policy.<\/li>\n<li>The international monetary system.<\/li>\n<li>The excellent currency areas and the European experience.<\/li>\n<li>The competitiveness of the Greek economy.<\/li>\n<li>Financial crises and their transmission from one country to another.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Teaching aids:<\/strong><br \/>\nP.
