Horta\u03c1\u03ad\u03b1\u03c2<\/p>\n<p>This course deals with money and central bank policy in theory and practice. The material is divided into four thematic units. The first unit deals with basic elements of monetary theory such as the supply and demand for money. The second unit deals with the transmission mechanism of monetary policy, the effectiveness of monetary policy and the analysis of alternative policy rules. Modern theoretical analytical frameworks for the interpretation of monetary policy as well as empirical approaches are also presented. The third unit begins with an analysis of the institutional design of monetary policy and then discusses the relevant international experience in a comparative manner.
