Theoretical models for the demand and supply of money are analysed, as well as the effects of monetary policy on economic activity.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Themes:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The nature and functions of money<\/li>\n<li>Measurement and money creation<\/li>\n<li>The demand for money<\/li>\n<li>The money supply and its creation through the banking system<\/li>\n<li>Monetary policy instruments and mechanisms<\/li>\n<li>The transmission of monetary policy to the economy<\/li>\n<li>Monetary policy in open economies<\/li>\n<li>The European Central Bank and monetary policy in the euro area<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Evaluation:<\/strong> Assessment is based on written examinations at the end of the semester, with the possibility of participation in optional exercises or assignments.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Teaching aids<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>M.
