We will deal with the economic analysis and treatment of a range of actions that firms often take in markets when they have (significant) monopoly power.<\/p>\n<p>These actions by businesses can take the following forms:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Abuse of dominant position<\/li>\n<li>Coordination &amp; harmonised practices<\/li>\n<li>Mergers &amp; acquisitions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In addition, issues such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Natural monopolies<\/li>\n<li>Monopoly regulation as regards pricing<\/li>\n<li>Setting up a multi-product business<\/li>\n<li>Liberalisation of markets<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>During deliveries are covered:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Introduction<\/li>\n<li>Competition policy and methodology<\/li>\n<li>Related market<\/li>\n<li>Assessment of monopoly power<\/li>\n<li>Abuse of dominant position<\/li>\n<li>Conspiracy<\/li>\n<li>Mergers &amp; acquisitions<\/li>\n<li>Introduction to regulatory policy<\/li>\n<li>Monopoly regulation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Knowledge of Microeconomic Theory I, II and mathematical calculus is assumed.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/eclass.uoa.gr\/courses\/ECON403\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Online Course Platform<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Teaching aids<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>N.
