Topics on basic data structures, data modeling and operations, search and access methodologies and languages are presented. Through economic and management applications, issues of database analysis, design and implementation are studied.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Subject matter:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Introductory concepts: Data and Information, Storage Units, Data Files, Data Structures<\/li>\n<li>Databases and Logical Data Models<\/li>\n<li>Database Systems Architecture and Overview<\/li>\n<li>Conceptual Design and Correlation Entity Diagrams<\/li>\n<li>Relational model, ER diagrams, Relational algebra<\/li>\n<li>Normal Forms (Normalization)<\/li>\n<li>SQL and search methodologies<\/li>\n<li>Analysis, design and implementation of financial and administrative applications<\/li>\n<li>NoSQL Databases and current trends<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Workshops:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Students are divided into groups for compulsory laboratory training. MS-Access is taught and an introduction to the use of SQL commands with Oracle and MySQL is given.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Preparation of work - Project:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The students work on the design and development of a database.
