Varoufakis<\/p>\n<p><strong>Content<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This course is a logical continuation of Macroeconomic Theory (ECO212). It focuses on the challenges of economic policy in an open economy, in relation to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the objectives and priorities pursued,<\/li>\n<li>the existing restrictions,<\/li>\n<li>the action of pressure groups; and<\/li>\n<li>the potential bottlenecks in relation to the desired timetables.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It analyses the stages of macroeconomic imbalances diagnosis, design, selection of measures, legislation, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.<\/p>\n<p>It highlights the key players and factors (economic, political, institutional, social and organisational) that influence the choice and implementation of measures.<\/p>\n<p>This framework is used to evaluate alternative policies for:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>supporting growth and fighting unemployment,<\/li>\n<li>reducing budget deficits,<\/li>\n<li>improving competitiveness and<\/li>\n<li>addressing over-indebtedness crises in various economies, including Greece.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Teaching aids<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2013 Vavouras Ioannis, <em>Economic policy<\/em> (Epilogue), Papazisis Publishing House, 2019<br \/>\n\u2013 Karantonis H.
