Kaplanoglou<\/p>\n<p><strong>Content<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Course objective:<\/strong> The purpose of the course is to present to the student the central concepts concerning the political economy of social policy, what social policy is, why it exists, what its goals are and by what methods they are achieved.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Content:<\/strong> The course is an introduction to the basic concepts of social policy, its foundations in welfare economics and its main objectives. Particular emphasis is placed on the principles of social welfare functions, the concept of equality as a possible goal of state policy and the theories of social justice that constitute the moral basis of social policy. The course also offers the opportunity to analyze some of the most important fields of social policy, such as education, health, social security and welfare (poverty, inequality, income protection).
